Pest Control Approach For An Infestation Of Flying Cockroaches

Flying roaches are fairly common in certain areas of the country. If you're not used to seeing them, you may be shocked the first time you see a big roach flying around your house. While it's important to eliminate any kind of roach that's in your house, you especially want to get rid of the flying variety since they can contaminate so much more of your home.

The roaches can fly and land near the ceiling, on shelves, and on cabinet doors where they can slip inside. Rather than staying in low areas like many other roaches do, flying roaches can infest your entire home. You may need a pest control company to eliminate them, especially since you'll want to get rid of them in a hurry. Here are some steps that help eliminate a flying roach infestation.

Clear Mulch And Growth Near Your Doors

Flying roaches come in from outside where they live under mulch and soil around foundation plants and other moist places. They're drawn to lights, so when you open the door to go inside, the roaches can fly inside, hide, and multiply.

Eliminate their hiding places in your yard and near your house, and especially around your doors. Hire a pest control company to apply treatments around the perimeter of your home to keep the bugs away from your house.

Declutter Your House

Flying roaches like the same thing other roaches like, such as damp wood, cardboard, food crumbs, and places to leave their eggs. Clean up clutter so the roaches have fewer places to hide and multiply. Also, work on keeping your kitchen dry and your food sealed to keep the roaches from contaminating your food and dishes.

Put Out Traps And Bait

You can buy roach traps or glue traps to place around your house to catch roaches and monitor their numbers. You can even make your own traps with a container the roaches can crawl in to get food, but they can't crawl out of.

You might want to put out bait the roaches will eat that kills them. Roaches will eat a lot of different things in your home, so they might pass over bait to get to food, wood, or glue in books, so you might need professional treatments too.

Kill Individual Bugs

You can also kill individual bugs when you see them. They often come out at night and fly around the house. You could spray them with soapy water to stop their flight so you can stomp the bugs or wait for the soapy water to suffocate them. Use caution about spraying insecticide in your home, especially for individual bugs.

Have Indoor Pest Control Treatments

When you have an infestation, you may want the pest control company to treat the inside of your house too. They might apply the treatments under cabinets, in cracks, and other places where the roaches hide in the daytime.
